Shoe Inserts
Alan says that he was told about 85% of runners "turn their feet in" and need inserts (supports?) to compensate. He swears by them, and says he has not had any problems, where he has in the past. Fleet Feet will video you running on a treadmill to determine if you need such an insert. Or may you can just get some "inserts" since chances are you are one of the 85%. I wouldn't keep going with the shin splints. One summer at Black River after walking all week with shin splints and then continuing when I got home, it ended up taking several months before I could do any serious walking without my shins killing me. I thought I was doomed for life. I did get new shoes that truly "put a bounce in my step" and I love them (for walking and exercising). But I'm guessing good running shoes are a must.

I agree with needing the right pair of shoes. When I first started I got blisters. Alpha made me go to Fleet Feet and I did the video thing (I am one of the 15% that don't need inserts) but I haven't had any type of problems since. Racers and Pacers also video tape you. You need to find a store that specializes in running. There should be one advertising for the Mercedes Marathon.
We are under a Tornado Warning and it is blowing pretty good.
