Our babies are here!

I know Mike already put up a great post about the birth of our twin boys and some pictures, but Drew and I wanted to share some of our own pictures. Samuel Philip Robert Day was born at 10:47 pm weighing 4 lbs 12 oz and 18 in long while Emmett James Andrew Day was born at 11 pm weighing 5 lbs 6 oz and 19 in long. Both are absolutely gorgeous if I do say so myself. It was a tough delivery but completely worth it for our boys! Enjoy the pictures!

Samuel and Emmett

Drew and Jess had a long and blessed day yesterday. Jess was able to come over Friday and get in the pool a short while and took the boys for a little swim. Early Sat morn Baby A's water broke at 2:15 and Drew & Jess went to hospital around 4. Jess was in full labor. When I got there about 5

it seemed like they were anxious to make their presence. Aunt/Nurse Charly got there about 5:15 (she was supposed to work Sat at 7 - BTW she was awesome all day on her 20-hr shift) and it looked we were ready to go in a few minutes. Baby B had turned around and both were headed down - so Jess was going to deliver w/o a C-section. She was prepped and the anethesiologist gave her an epidural and me Delana, Ryan D., Debbie, Joe, and Jim went to the waiting room while Drew and Lynn got ready to go into L&D. Well - the epidural seemed to slow down things - her contractions subsided and she seemingly went from 10 cm to about 7. The wait was on. Finally about 9 at night she was ready again as they were trying to give her time to deliver without a C. At 10:47 Baby A - Samuel Philip Robert Day made his presence and seem pretty relaxed about it. 4#12 oz, 18" (again my number may be slightly off) as we saw him as he moved from L&D to NICU. Baby B became a bit mis-directed (a Day thing?) and was heading out with his forehead. After trying several minutes B's heartrate dropped dramatically as it was being stressed. They had to due an emergency C-section - it may have been the time Louisville registered a slight tremor and Jess's scream could be heard in New Albany as they didn't have time to get hear numb/asleep before they had to get B out. Jess & Drew had a minute or two there which was eally rough and I'm so proud of both as they handled it perfectly. Finally, Baby B at 11:00 - Emmett James Andrew Day (with the cap) was with us as they got him out just in time as he was pretty limp - they coudn't have waited a minute longer (the hosp doctors/nurses were great!). 5# 6 oz, 19" and Emmett began to recover quickly. He has some bruising on the forehead from using it as a battering ram on Jess but both were doing fine (a little oxygen at times). We finally left about 1-2 Sun morn. Jess (Room 325) will be in probably about 2-3 days and the boys about 1-3 weeks (as they are still about 6 weeks to full-term). More info/pics later.

Can't deny the Days came from Germany!

Everyday I walk through the the train station to go to work, I'm greeted with this - I came all the way to Hamburg only to have Debbie staring at me, or is that Terri? (From head-on, more Terri; from off to the side, more Debbie.)

Hey Mike....

Why does Stephan's picture show up for you on the Day Family Heritage website. Did you give up on Einstein? We need to update Haley's birthdate. (5-18-2001) Guess I can do that.

alabama update...anyone else??

I'll give our update...expect the same from others...and not just my siblings.

Melissa went to the Thyroid doctor today. She is doing much better. Heart rate staying in the 80's I believe. Her stomach is still causing the most pain but slowly getting better. After things have been settled down for a while she will go in for another colonoscopy to make sure they didn't miss anything that wasn't brought on by the thyroid. After seeing the blood test from her Saturday trip to the ER the doctor decided to take more blood to look for some other disease of they thyroid that is easily treated. Melissa didn't remember the name of the disease, maybe Jeff did. So she goes back in September, unless they find something in the additional tests or she has other symptoms develop.

As far as their house goes...they are still waiting on paperwork from the bank that holds the current mortgage. They have verbally agreed to a short sale (selling the house for less than the current mortgage) but the new lender has not received the official paperwork. It will be about two weeks after they receive that for them to close.

Things have been quiet in the Stallworth household. For those not on facebook, she had one of her cards put to canvas to hand in the foyer and it looks awesome. Thinking about having her do one of our house to put over the fireplace. Or some really neat scenery picture. Left is Heathers shrine to her kids...so Cheryl don't let Jeff talk you out of hanging pictures of Reese.

Me and Tom are just back to work after our staycation. Kind of a good thing we didn't end up going out of town. People are buying shoes and the IRS is keeping me busy changing tax forms.

Told Beth I'd put a reminder out there about the Stephan Day Bicentennial Family Reunion , June 11, 2011 in Lanesville. I'm not sure who all got the flyer, but we can get you a copy if you want one. Most of the info is on the web site dayheritage.net password is stephan. I hear we have Mike and Beth to thank for most of the work on that. You should all go check it out. Lots of neat info if you like to hear about our anncestors or see who's in the family tree that you never expected.

Hope to hear from everyone else soon.

What a Day!

Talked to Melissa this morning and she is doing better. Heart rate down in the 80's. She has a constant pain down low, figure it may have something to do with with the Colitis? Hasn't seen any doctors yet this morning. Will update you when we hear more.

Did manage to have some fun with the grandkids before going to the hospital. We took them to Rickwood Caverns. We didn't do anything afterwards since Melissa was in the ER by that time. But I think they still had fun. It was a real nice cool mile walk down the cave. We were the only one's on the tour at that time which was nice. Tom did have to duck a lot. The only bad part is when you get to the end, you have 102 steps to climb up. I was winded. Hoping we can do something again soon.

Need Melissa Prayers

She's been on the gastritis and colitis medicine for two weeks now. Thyroid medicine and stuff for rapid heart rate for a week and nothing is really helping. She's down to 102 pounds and is really having a hard time fighting this. It's gotten to the point that Jeff called me this morning concerned and said he's getting her in to see someone today. Will keep you informed.
