Demolition Derby

Alan successfully demolished our family room while I was working this weekend. The ceiling beams and paneling are a thing of the past. I helped him move our entertainment center and TV out of the room and I feel very lucky that neither of those were demolished in the move - they are heavy sons of guns! Even with a dolly, it was not a fun deal... If they were not just sitting in our living room (turned into storage room), I would say they are not being moved ever again!

I can't imagine that anyone would have any use for the paneling or ceiling beam lumber (the pieces are over 13' feet long!), but if so, let us know! I'm not sure what pieces he is going to be able to reuse, but I know not the paneling. We will probably set it all out on the curb and see what happens before we call the city for pickup. It was a hard decision to "let go" of the paneling after all these years of bucking the trend and hanging onto it! It is what it is...

The "banana truck" taking shipments down to Honduras arrives in about a half hour. Pappaw will have organized a group of his men friends (and me) to help load the boxes that have been stored at Ace Hardware in their loft. The truck is arriving earlier than expected though, and the forklift driver from Ace is not expected until noon. I hope he doesn't plan on us carrying all those boxes down the rickety steps at Ace... [Note to my kids - Think I could add "hotrodding a forklift" to my list of misdemeanors along with "filching a golf cart?"] Actually, being MLK holiday, Alan is off work and should be home from his workout/errands soon enough to pitch in! Over the last few years, I have ended up being the "workhorse", climbing into the semi to move boxes around, mostly because the average age of the men who help is about 70+. Jim helped (thankfully) right before he moved to Everett, and others have helped over the years... I am glad Alan will be there today! Gotta get moving...
