Thanks for all your support, thoughts, prayers, and food!

OK, so you see what it takes for me to make my first posting...

I want to thank each and every one of you for the support, prayers and compassion extended to the Nolan family through the recent events with my Dad. It's times like this when you recognize how important family is. And fortunately, we've been blessed to have fantastic families on both sides of the aisle - yes, including my Days in-laws! (I must still be in a state of shock - I can't believe I put that in writing. I'll come back later and delete this post and vehemently deny I ever acknowledged it! LOL!)

Sorry I did not have a lot of time to spend much quality time with you on Friday or Saturday. Too many distant relatives and friends who travelled long distances to be here. Had not seen my TX cousin since childhood, the Loogootee cousins (now spread across the U.S.) in 5 years - I know the Days will find that hard to believe!

Please know that your presence, concerns, thoughts and prayers were felt and appreciated. Also, thanks for the food provided on Friday at the funeral home, and to Cheryl for bringing it by. Mike/Chip/Drew, thanks for the use of the suit coat, saved us scrambling for a long-armed coat - we'll get it back to you for continued community use.

Dad's resting in good company. His grave site is two rows from your Dad's. Also, Angela's (Ron's wife) father's is also one row away from your Dad's. I can image my Dad's up in heaven "bending your Dad's ear" now - that can't be a good thing for me!

Thanks again. With love, Alan
First of all - Debbie, what the heck prompted a "Berkley . . .test" - never even heard of it before! I can't even seem to get my cholesterol checked - even when i try! Went in for annual thyroid check-up and asked if they could check cholesterol while they were at it - but that wouldn't have fallen under  my "thyroid diagnosis" so insurance probably wouldn't cover it.  So I didn't pursue it - figure I'll look for some free "screening" thing or something.  I'm sure there's no way my insurance would pay for any "berkley test" - so I might just assume the worst and follow your doctors advice to you!  i didn't even know we had that many heart attacks and cancer. Beth & Family - I was so sorry to hear about Doc's passing and our thoughts and prayers are with you all.
Nothing much here - very busy with football, tennis and such.  cole had his first glag football game yesterday wich was pretty funny.  Wyatt's first game went well, too - he actually gets in there and doesn't seems to shy away from the contact like the others did.  He said his coach is planning on having him run the ball more in the next game.  We'll see. He's really liking it. Hope everyone's doing well - enjoyed seeing everyone last weekend.
I'm off to play scrabble with the birthday boy while I  finish his special cake (choc. layer cake filled with layer of fudge frosting and peanut butter cup ice cream then iced with whipped cream) I gotta get going on it so I can get it back into the freezer to firm back up. I'll have an extra piece for all of you (and then start my heart attack gene fitness plan!) Love you all. T

HAPPY BIRTHDAY CAM

Happy 13th Birthday Cameron. Its hard to believe that you are now a teenager.
Have a fun day tomorrow, lots of love, Granny Pat and Grampaul.

It's in the Gene's

Just got my results back from the Berkeley HeartLab. Turns out I'm a carrier of the heart attack gene, as my doctor put it. So I thought I'd share since I'm sure I'm not the only one in the family that was passed this gene. My insulin level was high also. Her prescription for me was 20 minutes of exercise every day where I break out in a sweat and at least 7 fruits/vegetable servings a day (or an antioxidant supplement). Since I can't control genetics I have to control the other 8 risk factors: smoking (no problem there), high cholesterol (gonna work on it), high blood pressure (didn't say anything about almost low blood pressure), physical inactivity (marathon training takes on a whole new meaning), overweight...especially when carried around the stomach (diet and exercise for that to), diabetes (that's the insulin part also controlled by diet), stress (can't quit my job though) and alcohol (actually I should drink more).

Think healthy everyone...we aren't getting any younger.

Pap-Paw

Pap-paw passed away yesterday, a little after 5:00 p.m. He was surrounded by his family and went peacefully. Bernice and all his children were able to say their goodbyes, albeit he had been in a coma for 10 days. Visitation at Generations funeral home will most likely be on Friday, with funeral at Holy Family on Saturday. We anticipate all the grandchildren will be able to be here for the funeral. Jim arrived home last night and other family members and friends will be trickling in throughout the rest of the week. Bernice is holding up well right now, but we know how tough it will be in the days to come. We are so grateful to have such loving families for support. I have always felt lucky and blessed to be part of two great families. Love you all! Beth

Thank Goodness for Birthdays!

I guess I'm loosing everyone with the blog. I know I haven't been on in a while either. Nothing to say except I'd been working 45-55 hours a week for the last two months. I'm not to keen on non-resident aliens right now since they caused most of my headaches. And all I have to show for it is an Ulcer. I'm supposed to go back next month for a second Endoscopy to see if it's gone away.

Took off this weekend and I've been cleaning house. I still can't believe 6 yr old paint still matches...in all the rooms. So I've been washing floors and touching up paint. It's a lot easier than changing colors.

Went to Will's first t-ball practice. His games start on Sunday so that's what we'll be doing the next few Sundays. I'm looking forward to that.

Tom's team won the league title for Summer 8-Ball session. So another plaque to hang on the wall (that's about 5 now) It also qualifies them for the city tournament next year. That's the one they need to win to get the free trip to Vegas. They have most of their old team back that won cities twice before a couple years ago. So they have a shot at winning next year.

Looks like the Louisville Marathon may be a no-go. We just got invited to a wedding that Saturday and Tom wants us to go to it. (One of his pool buddies.) I haven't been training, but I will for the Mercedes. My boss is trying to talk me into doing a marathon in Memphis, but I'm not up to going out of town, where I don't know anyone to run. When I can actually run one then I'd consider it.

Hope everyone is doing okay. Let me know what your up to no matter how mundane.
I miss you all!!

ANOTHER BIRTHDAY

HAPPY, HAPPY BIRTHDAY Michael. Enjoy the day,
and do some fun things. Love you, Mom and Paul
