I guess I could add my update to the mix…
I’m just about finishing up my rotation here in Dayton at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base. It’s been a really good experience. I basically do the entire exam, and then run everything by my supervisor, and he checks off on it and signs any prescriptions. So it’s been pretty neat to have that much freedom. They even call me Dr. Nolan (which I find very weird, and somewhat inappropriate since I’m not actually a doctor yet).
I’ve got about a week and a half left here, and then I’ll be on to my next rotation in Indianapolis- where I’ll be crashing in on the Metzger clan! Probably going to be an interesting transition from my little one bedroom apart with just Robbie and me.
Robbie (the kitten) is doing well. He’s a lot of fun, although sometimes I wish he’d grow up a little faster and lose some of his kitten energy. Like the other night when he was home alone all day while Josh and I were at King’s Island. When I got back around midnight I thought it was bedtime, but he thought it was playtime. I have yet to find a human food that he doesn’t like- not because I feed him human food, but because I tend to sit on the couch and eat, and he tries to steal my food!
Robbie has been getting to know Josh’s dog and cat on the weekends- Joey and Chandler (both girls, by the way). He and Joey are getting along great- they love to play, but are still figuring out how that works, since Joey is about 4 times bigger than Robbie. Here's some pics of Joey and Robbie being best buds:
The Chandler-Robbie relationship is a little more difficult, though. Chandler doesn’t want anything to do with Robbie. He comes within 10 ft of her and she hisses. Robbie, on the other hand, wants to play, and hasn’t quite learned that a hiss means “leave me alone!” Something else that we hope time and age will help out some. Although I did get Chandler to ignore Robbie by bribing with a plate of tuna:
I’ve got a lot of stuff coming up in the next few weeks. Butler homecoming, moving and starting my next rotation, and a contact lens conference in Florida. And then after Thanksgiving, part 2 and 3 of boards are right around the corner- which includes a trip to Charlotte, North Carolina for part 3.
Josh has been keeping way too busy. School keeps him busy enough, and then he's working every other weekend, too. This all also means he's having to cross the river 12 days out of 14. So during the week he's been heading over really early and working out at a gym in Louisville before school. Spring semester will be his last semester of class, and then he'll have rotations (all in the Kentuckiana area) until he graduates in December 2012. He wants to get a Masters in Health Administration after he graduates, so he has more of an opportunity for management positions.
I guess that's all I've got, except for one more picture. It's not very good quality, but I just thought it was so cute having all three enjoying the sun through the window.
