Update
Not really much of an update, because not a lot has happened. There has been no real change in Pap-paw's condition. We are waiting to hear the results of an EEG taken today. There is a possibility of "silent" seizures that could be causing him to be unresponsive. They were to also take a trans-cranial Doppler to see about blood flow to the brain. The fact that he has been comatose since Saturday is not good, but we are led to believe there still is the chance that he will "wake up". They confirmed he would at least have weakness on his left side (he is left-handed) which seems minor in comparison to where he is at this point. The longer he lays in a coma the more chance of infection and/or pneumonia. They have yet to remove the neck brace although there appears to be no damage to his neck or collarbone. Since he is not responsive, they cannot remove the ventilator. His heart is strong and his kidney function is good, although he is puffed up like the Pillsbury Doughboy. We're still hoping...!!!

I'm sorry to hear that hasn't been any change. I would think his being in a coma would be good as his body is concentrating on healing. I hope that is the case.
Barbie - You're right. He is still hanging in there! It's hard to be patient, yet we know it will take time for him to heal. They did remove the neck brace last night. We are still awaiting the results of the EEG and TCD. There is a lot of hope for his recovery!
