Back from Chicago

Reese, Mom and I got home last night. Reese seemed to have a wonderful time. On Friday we went to the Lincoln Park Zoo. Reese was a little concerned about them not having a elephant. It's really a nice zoo. You would never guess you were in the middle of the city.

On Saturday we went to the beach. It's hard to believe it's not on the ocean considering the waves. Saturday night was Rusty's office party and Reese was all decked out in what she called her party dress. She talked to everyone and was all over the place. Rusty tied a balloon on her wrist so we could keep track of her easier. He has a nice court yard between the office building and what was the garage but is now offices also so she had plenty of room to wonder. She sat at his desk calling herself the executive. When someone new would come in she would say hi, I'm Reese, whats your name. Then she would say nice to meet you and shake their hand. One man there had been a teacher and principal for years and he said she was the most delightful 3 year old he had every met. He couldn't get over how smart she was and her vocabulary. She drew pictures with him like she did Uncle Mike. At one point she had out a homes magazine showing properties to an older lady there. The lady said she was looking for a place so Reese was looking for one for her. They told Rusty he better watch out or Reese would take his job.

Monday was Rusty's birthday (44) so we had a dinner party with 16 people. Reese talked with everyone there and picked out who she wanted to sit with. Needless to say it wasn't me. She did so well with dinner, I was really proud of her. One of the people there ask Mom if she was 5. She made so many new friends and invited them all to visit her at her house.

At one point she said Rusty's house was hers. She walked in the house and said "Uncle Rusty's house is amazing". Not really sure why she thought that but apparently she liked it. I think it was the open space and all the art on the walls. She and Yankee were together all the time. She rode her bike in the living/dinning/kitchen and thought that was great. Yankee would follow her trying to bite her tires or get her off. She thought she was leading Yankee around all the time but I think he was doing as much leading as she was.

We saw our neighbors new Golden (Dixie) tonight. She is 8 weeks old. Reese ask Jeff once again if she could have a puppy. Maybe we won't have to give in to it as long as Powder and Chance are around. Dixie looks a lot like Lexie. If they would just stay little I wouldn't mind. Jeff told her if the neighbors kept getting puppies she could just play with them. Two weeks ago she ask him if she could have a guinea pig. Right now it's hard enough to keep up with her without adding anything else into the mix.

School starts on 9/3 with swimming starting 9/9. Jeff wants to get her into something other than swimming but she doesn't seem to have any interest in sports yet. Maybe we will check out dance or gymnastics. I have also thought about karate. That might help with some of her anger issues but then again she might use the karate on us. She does have plenty of time for outside interest and I don't want her to be involved in to many things so we may hold off for a while longer.

I also have three year old pictures for all of you. I just have to get them sent out. If anyone is going to lunch on Saturday let us know. It's been a while since we have seen any of you.

I hope all of you had wonderful birthdays. Haley, I can't believe you are blogging. You are really growing up fast. Love to all.
