We've adopted!

Yesterday we brought home the sweetest little girl - lots of dark hair and big, bright eyes and just cute as can be, and the boys are all thrilled to have a little sister - even if she does have four legs - actually, ESPECIALLY since she has four legs! Now you all know I can't deal with dogs - way too much work if you ask me - the day you see me walking a dog and carrying a bag of it's poop will be a cold day you know where - and having to worry about being home to let it out and stuff?!! Not my cup of tea, never was much of a pet person - then again I never wanted kids either! Go figure. The boys have been driving me crazy for a pet though - and fish were no longer making the cut, so we went with a kitten. I gotta tell you - putting down a box was a breeze compared to the stories my friends have told me about getting up at 5 in the morning to let a puppy out, and cleaning up all the messes until it gets trained and all that crap (literally!) So, just about 18 hours into this I'd have to say it's going pretty well! I had researched quite a bit and we went with a purebred Maine Coon (I just love saying "Maine Coon"!) cause they are supposed to be very social, playful and all that and actually like to be around all the action instead of the kind that go and hide. So, there we have it - a new girl in the house, her name is Sofie and I'll send a pic when I can get a decent one. Meanwhile this photo is an older one from the breeder and she's changed a lot already!

You had me wondering on that. I was talking to Barb telling her to watch for your news, and she told me you just put it on the blog. Congratulations on your girl. I like the name to. I'm off now, going shopping. Don't forget to send me some ideas. Luv ya

Congratulations! I'm sure you will love your little girl very much. You are right, they are a lot easier than dogs. I have baby sat for her cousins Chance and Powder and those two cats are total opposites. You would never know those two were raised by the same parents. I'm not sure Cheryl will trust me with them any more since Chance showed his dominance last time. I do believe he was very happy. He got into the basement and our ceiling tiles are half down from all the problems down there, and he crawled into the rafters and stayed there for over 24 hours. But the cats are very much easier, the main thing I miss is that they don't come when you call them and get all excited about you being there. Once you get the dog trained they aren't bad. Anna even has Sam trained. He just doesn't have her trained well enough. Good luck with Sofie and she can come visit any time.

I'm so glad you finally gave in and got a cat. Much better choice in regards to work than a dog. We love ours. Powder likes to be around everyone but Chance doesn't like like to be around unless he knows you and then he takes a little while to warm up. He keeps to himself until I sit down and then he is on my lap wanting to be close. Both cats like to sleep with me. They will even sleep with Reese once she is sleeping. Barbie and John worried far to much about Chance when he decided to go exploring. He is very nosie. Powder would rather be close most of the time.

How old is Sofie? My Uncle & Aunt have a maine coon named Dusty and he isn't very friendly. I'm sure Sofie will be totally different since she will have the boys playing with her all the time.

Welcome to the cat world, I can't wait to see her. Love you all.
