Hey everyone - I'm just wondering if any of you have some of the same problems I do (not the mental ones! - though I'm sure we should all compare notes there, too - things are hereditary you know!) Anyway - as I've gotten older (no jokes there - I'm still the "baby") I've noticed changes in my throat/swallowing, etc. I actually found a post on the internet that described it perfectly - of course a bunch of people posted that they had the same thing - but there were no good "answers" and it was originally posted in 2006 so there's nothing recent on there. Here's the description - let me know if any of you all have any ideas. (Of course this is just one of the many "ailments" - for example, the hand going numb while I sleep has just become the norm!) Here's the description:
"Very often the smallest thing, like drinking something or eating something that just remotely "goes down the wrong way", or even taking in a breath, will trigger a tickle in my throat which sends me into a coughing fit until my eyes water and usually end with sneezing. "You guys have any input - other than I just take after mom (I love ya mom, but let's face it this does kind of make me think of you) anybody else have something like this?

Numb limbs are common. The hip/leg may eventually chime in.
My stab at playng MD is that we all have at least a mild case of allergies that we hve learned to live with (along with our ADD). Your throat is probably just irritated or 'inflamed' or being sensitive. Try taking a non-drowsey allergy medication for a couple of weeks even though you don't feel you need it and see what that does.
I'm glad to know that I'm thought about even if its when your swallowing,etc. I guess I'm thought about a lot. I have problems with sinus drainage, I also found out that I have some small cyst on my thyroid and will be taking another thyroid test in April. I also have dead feeling in my hands while sleeping and I just shake my hands until they feel o.k. All these things manily started around 65 more or less. We all need to make up a list of our ailments, which I will do whenI get home. Try Barbs suggestion. Luv ya.
I agree with Barbs suggestion. I was thinking either allergies or acid reflux which I believe are turning out to be quite common in the family. Try a Zyrtec daily. It's over the counter now. That's what they have Haley on. Take it even if you don't think you need it..I think it works best when built up in your system. I get tickles in the throat a lot, but they seem to come at night.
