Sounds like everyone had a good time at Easter, sorry to have missed out but I ended up having a good one too. A coworker and I took advantage of the free weekend to see the tower in Pisa and then Florence where we saw the statue of David, the Ponte Vecchio ("Old Bridge"), and a rather boisterous Easter morning celebration that included some funky costumes and a rocket-powered wooden dove that shot from the alter of the Basilica, down though the center aisle, and outside where it set off a 15-minute fireworks display. Here is a link to someone else's photo gallery online... I have my own pictures, but left at home the computer cable to upload them (doh!), and my pictures aren't nearly as good - these don't quite capture the crowd around the event.
Other than the trip, I've been looking at apartments and houses to rent for the year - some right on the beach, but most pretty old and not nice enough to choose over the hotel, so the search continues - and still working on my Italian. I'm starting to get a feel for what I read and some of what I hear, but it's definitely going to take some time before I start speaking it. Other than all that, it's just life as usual on the Adriatic. Ciao.

Jim, sounds pretty exciting. I liked the caption on the last picture on the third page.
Jim, glad to hear that you are getting out and enjoying yourself. Not everyone can travel as much as you have, and do a job that they enjoy. Study up on your Italian but just talk English when you get back home. Luv ya, take care, Granny
